In case you notice a significant increase in the traffic to your Internet site and in case after you check the visitor statistics it turns out that it comes from places around the world or from other web servers, your website is more than likely being attacked by an automatic bot. These pieces of software go through random websites seeking to log in to their admin area through a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments beneath any article where such an option is offered. However, that's something relatively popular these days, but if you know the IP addresses through which the attacks come, you could block them, so the bots won't be able to access your website in any way. Obviously, you can block IPs even if you allow only people from certain countries to access your website.

IP Blocking in Cloud Website Hosting

If you have a cloud website hosting account with us and you would like to block one or several IP addresses, you can use the IP Blocking tool, that is integrated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. By using a pretty simple interface, you can restrict any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it takes to do that is to log within to your CP, to visit the IP Blocking section, to pick a particular domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to type in the IP address. You shall not have to do anything complex if you would like to block a whole network - you will simply have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the full range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed within the same section, so you'll be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with only a mouse click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you host your sites in a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you would like to block one or several IP addresses at some point, you may benefit from the easy-to-use blocking tool, that we've provided with our in-house built Hepsia hosting CP. With just several clicks, you'll be able to block particular IPs or whole ranges, if required. All you will have to do is select any of your domains or subdomains from a drop-down menu, select if the blocking needs to be valid for the root folder or for a subfolder that's part of the Internet site, and then type in the IP address that you want to block. For an IP range, you just have to omit the last octet or the last 2 octets of the address based on the size of the network that you want to block. All of the addresses that you've restricted will be listed inside the same section and if you want to whitelist any of them, you will be able to do it with simply a click anytime.
